I am an Institutional Economist focused on the role of housing in the production of pediatric health. I have an interdisciplinary PhD from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. I am associate director of the Center for Economic Information. Since 2019, I have been Special Faculty in Critical Studies at the California Institute for the Arts.

I was a craft baker for 12 years, and from 2010-2019 I was the director of The Museum of Bottled Water. I have an abiding interest in contemporary art and music.
